March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to learn, challenge misconceptions, and celebrate strengths.
Developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and language or sensory disorders, can affect communication, learning, social interaction, and daily living. Because these conditions vary widely, individualized assessment and early intervention (ABA, speech & occupational therapy) are key to better long-term outcomes.
At Jackson Jade Therapy we focus on tailored, family-centered care. Our multidisciplinary approach combines telehealth and in-person services where appropriate, caregiver coaching, and goal-driven therapy plans. These supports don’t just teach skills, they help families build routines, reduce stress, and create opportunities for inclusion in everyday life.
One of our favorite success stories is Anthony’s. He joined our program at age three after limited gains elsewhere; within two months of targeted telehealth services, he achieved more progress than in the prior year. That progress translated to meaningful family moments, including a joyful trip to Disneyland, and renewed hope and wellbeing for him and his family.
Inclusion is practical and powerful. Simple steps, learning and sharing accurate information, inviting participation, ensuring physical and sensory accessibility, and modeling respectful language, remove barriers and open community life. With supports like job coaching, accessible housing, and skill-building programs, many people with developmental disabilities live independently, work, form relationships, and contribute richly to their communities.
If you’d like resources or want to discuss individualized services for your child or family, contact Jackson Jade Therapy. We’re committed to partnering with families, celebrating progress, and creating more welcoming communities every day.
