Plus, we’ve got some fun and educational activities that combine math skills, fine motor practice, and sensory exploration! Let’s dive in.

Giving your child control and allowing children to make decisions in their daily routines not only boosts their confidence but also supports their development in key areas.

Overview: Empowering kids with control fosters independence, emotional regulation, and builds stronger parent-child relationships.

Child’s Perspective: "I get to choose what we do today! It makes me feel grown-up and proud when my choices work out, and it’s exciting to do things my way sometimes."

Math Fine Motor Skills with UNO Cards & Play Dough 🎲🍥

Overview: This activity combines math practice with fine motor skill development using UNO cards and play dough. Kids match numbers, create shapes, and build structures while improving their grip and hand-eye coordination.

Child’s Perspective: "I can make anything out of play dough and even play a card game at the same time! I love how squishy the dough feels in my hands while matching numbers on the cards!"

Skills Developed:

  1. Fine Motor Skills:

    • ✂️ Pinching, rolling, and shaping dough strengthens hand muscles.

    • 🖐️ Handling small cards helps with dexterity and control.

  2. Math Skills:

Muffin Tray Snacks with Magnetic Lid Covers 🍎🧲

Overview: Kids use muffin trays and magnetic lid covers to organize snacks, match lids, and create colorful snack patterns. This fun, interactive activity strengthens motor skills and introduces early concepts of sorting and organizing.

Child’s Perspective: "I love making my own snack tray! I get to pick the colors and put the lids on—it's like a puzzle I can eat!"

Skills Developed:

  1. Fine Motor Skills:

    • ✋ Pinching and grasping small pieces of food and magnets.

    • 🧲 Strengthening hand-eye coordination through lid placement.

  2. Executive Functioning:

    • 🗂️ Sorting and organizing snacks by color or size.

    • 🧠 Planning and sequencing through the activity steps.

  3. Sensory Exploration:

    • 👋 Tactile stimulation with different textures of food and magnets.

    • 👁️ Visual engagement with colors and patterns.
